Day 5 – Friday, November 2, 2018

This week we have been talking about having ears that hear.  We have been focused on hearing God’s voice. Hearing from God is the most important part of our Christian walk.

Jesus tells us in Luke that those who hear the Word and keep it are blessed.

“But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

Without hearing, we would not have been able to receive Salvation.

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” Romans 10:17

Without hearing, we would not have faith for anything.

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17

But there is more to the subject of hearing.  Not only is it important that we hear from God, it is also important that we listen to those around us.

The Word tells us that we should be quick to hear:

“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;” James 1:19

We need to hear the needs of those around us.  We should be aware of what is going on in the lives of the people around us.  Not to be nosey, but to be helpful.

“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4

We ought to show kindness to strangers – smile, be courteous.

“To speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.” Titus 3:2

Pay attention to those around you.  Really listen to them.  You may have an answer that the person in line behind you needs.  You may have a Word from God for your child’s teacher or coach.  You may have insight and understanding to a problem that your server is having.  The key is to listen and hear what their needs are.  Be friendly and ask questions.

Day 3 – Wednesday, October 31, 2018

Romans 12:2 is a hinging verse for Christians. Want to know how to hear and recognize God’s voice? Renew your mind to His Word. Our Father has made it easy for us to understand what His Will is. He has given us His Word. God’s Word is a direct line to the thoughts of God.

Read the Passion Translation of Romans 12:2:

“Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.” Romans‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭(TPT‬‬)

It’s so easy for us to adopt the customs and thought process of the culture we live in, but if we follow God’s instruction adopting His ways is just as easy.

Remember, while we live in this world we are not of the world.

“But we are citizens of heaven. And we can hardly wait for a Savior from there. He is the Lord Jesus Christ.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭(NIRV)‬‬

The key to living as citizens of heaven and ambassadors in this earth is to build our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Knowing Him, understanding His ways and living in them are the most important aspects of our lives. To be successful at all of this we must recognize the leading of our Heavenly Father by knowing His voice. Read God’s Word to learn His voice.

Day 2 – Tuesday, October 30, 2018

God is always speaking to you. Does that seem hard to believe? It’s the truth. He is in constant communication with His sons and daughters. He has promised to lead us-His children and that we would know His voice.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27 (ESV)

Our Heavenly Father wants to have fellowship with us. He wants us to have relationship with Him. That’s why Jesus died on the cross. He gave His life so that we could have right standing with our Father.

You can hear God’s voice. John 10:27 tells us that we hear it. Sometimes it takes effort on our part. Sometimes we just need to be still. Turn off all the noise and focus on our Father.
