SEEK AND SAVE: Week 3 – “Pray For The Lost”

Day 6 – Saturday, October 27, 2018

Never give up, when it comes to praying for the lost. Don’t look at circumstances and think that all hope is lost. Hope is never lost!

But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” II Chronicles 15:7

Remember, with God all things are possible.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” Mark 10:27

Don’t give up. Continue praying according to God’s Word and praying by faith, and you will see the salvation of the Lord.

Day 5 – Friday, October 26, 2018

You may be wondering why Prayer is so important.

Didn’t God already meet our needs when Jesus died and resurrected?

Yes.

Doesn’t our Heavenly Father want all people to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ?

Yes.

But, God, our loving Heavenly Father gave each of us free will. We have the right to choose whether we want a relationship with Him or not. Our enemy knows that and will do anything to keep us from the abundant life God has planned for us.

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”‭‭John‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” I Peter‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

God has given us an avenue to fight this. We shared yesterday about the weapons of our warfare. All throughout the Bible we are told to pray.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” –Philippians 4:6

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” –Colossians 4:2

Your prayers are effective. They work.

“…tremendous power is released through the passionate, heartfelt prayer of a godly believer!” James 5:16b (TPT)

Keep praying every day for those who are lost. Use their names. Remember, words have power. So, speak life over your lost loved ones.

“What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words.” Proverbs 18:21 (GNT)

Day 4 – Thursday, October 25, 2018

You may have noticed in the prayer for the lost on Sunday’s handout the phrase, “loosing blinding spirits.”  Why is that important?

“But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God should shine on them.”  II Corinthians 4:3-4 (NKJV)

Satan has blinded unbelievers.  We must pray that all blinding spirits be loosed from the minds of the lost.  Remember, we do not fight people but evil spirits.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)

We have authority over all evil and blinding spirits.

“…and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”  Matthew 16:19b (NKJV)

“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” Luke 10:19 (ESV)

It’s our prayers for the lost that make a difference.  Every revival in the history of the church began with prayer.   You can even read about the first church, in Acts 1 and 2.  The disciples gathered in the Upper Room: “…these all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication,…” (Acts 1:14) and in Acts chapter 2 Pentecost happened — that’s when they received the Holy Spirit and then left to share the Gospel.  Acts 2:41 says, “Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.”  3,000! It all began with prayer!

Never discount the power of prayer!

Parents, have your children read their prayer with you:

Father, I thank you for the salvation of my friend:____________________.

I pray that you are loosing blinding spirits from their mind. I ask that you send laborers into the harvest to preach your gospel and bring people into your kingdom. I thank you that I am one of those laborers. I pray that if they have ever heard the Gospel at any time in their lives that the Holy Spirit would bring it up in their mind. I thank you again that Your desire is for all people to be saved and (Name of Person): ____________________________ is receiving your salvation.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Day 3 – Wednesday, October 24, 2018

On Sunday, October 21, Pastor Don shared with us about the Rich Young Ruler.  He taught us about the mistakes that the Rich Young Ruler made in how he approached and spoke with Jesus.  What we learned is that we can either serve God with an agenda or we can serve Him with a pure heart.  In other words, are we choosing to follow Jesus and to do what God’s Word says?  When we come to Jesus, we should come fully submitted to Him and His Word.  He has the answer for all areas of our lives.  Let’s choose to make Him Lord over every area of our lives.

This week of Seek and Save, we are focusing on praying for the lost.  Sometimes we can have a tendency to think that prayer does not work.  That is a lie from the devil.

“Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”  Mark 11:24 (ESV)

Prayer is communication with God.  It is believing and receiving what He has already given to us in Jesus.  God wants all people to be saved.

“This is good and it pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to know the truth.” I Timothy 2:3-4 (GNT)

We just need to aline our thinking with God’s Word.  Understand that because God wants all people to be saved, when you are praying for the lost, you are praying in agreement with God’s Word.  We need to pray for the lost with the authority that Jesus purchased for us.  Pray with confidence.

Seek and Save W3D3 - John 15 7 (TPT) verse - photofromrawpixeunsplash

“Separated, you can’t produce a thing. Anyone who separates from me is deadwood, gathered up and thrown on the bonfire. But if you make yourselves at home with me and my words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon.” John 15:7 (MSG)

Pray everyday for your loved ones who are lost.  Pray for those you work with everyday.  Every day pray that God uses you to reach lost people with the Good News of Jesus Christ and that there are other Christians who are being put in the path of your lost loved ones doing the same.

Day 1 – Monday, October 22, 2018

Trust our Heavenly Father with your heart and with your life. Trust the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you every day. Trust Jesus to seek and save your loved ones.

Trust God to use you to reach out to those around you, sharing the Good News of Jesus. He wants the world to know He cares about them and loves them, but He wants to use your voice.

Use your card and read the confessions out loud:

  • The Holy Spirit gives me influence with lost people.
  • He is showing me those I need to witness to every day.
  • The Holy Spirit will give me the right words to say at the right time.
  • My life is an example of God’s love.
