SEEK AND SAVE: Week 1 – “Here I Am, Send Me!”

Day 6 – Saturday, October 13, 2018

“Go into all the world…” that was one of the last commands Jesus gave to the Apostles.  It is because they were obedient to that command that we now know about our loving Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ who was sent to rescue us.  Because the Apostles CHOSE to go into all the world and share the Gospel that we are saved today.  They did not allow the Gospel – the Good News of Jesus to stop with them.  The Gospel came to them through Jesus and they passed that Good News to everyone they met.  They did this knowing there would be people who would reject and ridicule them.  They did it anyway.  Aren’t you grateful that they did?  They looked beyond any mocking they might encounter and saw with they eyes of Jesus.  Remember when we talked about what Jesus saw when he looked at the vast crowds?

“…When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd. “What a huge harvest!” he said to his disciples….”  Matthew 9:36-37 (MSG)

That same compassion washed over the Apostles.  They no longer saw crowds of people — they saw a huge harvest!  This is our year of harvest — Harvest for God’s Kingdom.  When you go about your day, your week, your month, look around and see the harvest — see the people that need a shepherd — see the people God wants YOU to share His Good News with every chance you get.

“Jesus said to his followers, “There is such a big harvest of people to bring in. But there are only a few workers to help harvest them. God owns the harvest. Ask him to send more workers to help gather his harvest.”  Matthew 9:37-38 (ERV)

There is a huge harvest.  God is sending us out to gather that harvest.  We must not allow Satan to keep us quiet through shame or embarrassment or fear of offending.  We cannot allow the Gospel to stop with us.  The time is now.

Let this be your prayer today:

Father, thank you for having the Apostles share the Gospel so that today, thousands of years later, I could hear that Gospel and receive Salvation.  Jesus, let me see what you see in people.  Show me how to love people and care about their eternity like you do.  Holy Spirit help me to be a bold witness.  Show me how to recognize divine appointments and give me the words to say to people that I meet.  Father, I do not want the Gospel to stop with me.  Here I am Lord, send me!  In Jesus’ name, amen.

Day 5 – Friday, October 12, 2018

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10 (KJV)

Last Sunday, Pastor Don introduced the series “Seek and Save”.  He shared the meaning behind the words “seek” and “save”.

The word “seek” indicates that Jesus is engaged in striving to find those who are lost.  The word “save” shows us that Jesus wants to deliver us from our lost condition and to salvation.  He is seeking to save the lost from destruction and wandering that can lead to destruction or even eternal separation from God.  Jesus makes the lost whole once He has delivered us.   That was His whole purpose for coming to the earth — to make us whole.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,”  Luke 4:18 (KJV)

Jesus takes hold of us.  In Philippians 3 Paul tells us, “I want to take hold of Him as He has taken hold of me.”  When Jesus has taken hold of us, it’s not automatic that we respond in kind.  We have to stop resisting. He is seeking to save us and take us to a better life.

Let this be your prayer today:

Father, thank you for sending Jesus to seek me and to save me.  Jesus, thank you for taking hold of me and delivering me from destruction and to salvation.  Holy Spirit keep me mindful of this new life I can live.  Show me how to share this Good News with others so that they too, can take hold of Jesus and experience this Abundant Life He came to give us. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Day 4 – Thursday, October 11, 2018

“…Here I am, send me.”  Isaiah 6:8

That has been our message this week.  That we would have a heart that would see the harvest like God sees it and cry out to Him: “Here I am, Father.  Send me.  Use me…”  Watch this testimony from OCFC Ministry Leader, Mina Machuca as she shares her revelation of making herself available to our Heavenly Father.

Let this be your prayer today:

Father, make me a conduit of your power.  I want to be your vessel – a vessel of light in this dark world.  Father, show me the harvest.  Speak through me. Make me usable and able to help those around me – to love those who are unlovely; to heal those who are sick or brokenhearted.  Father, use me to lead those who are lost to You.  In Jesus’ name, amen.

Day 3 – Wednesday, October 10, 2018

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10 (KJV)

Pastor Don taught us on Sunday (Oct. 7) that the word “lost” in Luke 19:10 is referring to those that are caused to perish or those being destroyed.  That is what breaks Jesus’ heart – to see people perish or be destroyed.  The word “lost” also refers to those who wander away.  Jesus is not content to allow us to wander away.  He still comes to seek and save us.  Know, too, that Jesus is come to seek and save our loved ones who may have wandered off.

“When he saw the vast crowds of people, Jesus’ heart was deeply moved with compassion,…”  Matthew 9:36a (TPT)

Jesus was moved with compassion when he saw the lost.  We should be so moved.

Let this be your prayer today:

Father, open my eyes to the people around me who are lost and hurting.  Let me see people through your eyes.  Cause me to feel the compassion that Jesus felt when seeing the vast crowds of people.  Show me how to love people like you do.  In Jesus’ name, amen.

Day 2 – Tuesday, October 9, 2018

Seek and Save W1D2 - Luke 1910 verse - photofromjeremybishopunsplash

Pastor Don taught us on Sunday (Oct. 7) that the word “is” in Luke 19:10 is present tense.  This means that Jesus is still SEEKING the lost today.  He is still seeking to SAVE those who are lost.  We can read about Jesus’ heart for the lost in Matthew chapter 9:

“Then Jesus made a circuit of all the towns and villages. He taught in their meeting places, reported kingdom news, and healed their diseased bodies, healed their bruised and hurt lives. When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd. “What a huge harvest!” he said to his disciples. “How few workers! On your knees and pray for harvest hands!” Matthew 9:35-38 (MSG)

Jesus’ heart broke when He looked out over the crowds because of how confused and aimless they were.  Think about how things are in today’s world — not much of a difference, is there?  Jesus is seeking those who are lost, confused and aimless today.  The next thing to note here is that Jesus called these crowds of confused and aimless people “..a huge harvest…”  The lost are His harvest.  Think about that for a minute.  At OCFC, since January, Pastor Don has shared with us that 2018 would be our year of Harvest.  While this certainly includes harvest in our personal lives such as healing manifested in our bodies, restoration of relationships, financial breakthroughs, etc., our year of Harvest especially includes lost souls choosing to enter the Kingdom of Heaven — especially through our new gateway to Heaven — the Legacy.

Join us in praying the prayer in the card you received on Sunday:

Father, I pray that you would use me to preach the Gospel to everyone I meet.  Open my eyes to the people around me who are lost and hurting.  Tell me what to say and when to say it.  I pray that you would make me bold to share Your Word and Your love with the people in my community.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
